‘Recovery rate of COVID-19 patients in India is nearly 20 per cent’

New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The number of coronavirus cases in India has increased to 21,393 on Tuesday while the death toll has surged to 681, according to the latest data by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Of the total number of cases, 4,258 people have been cured and discharged from hospitals.

Maharashtra continues to remain the worst affected state with 5,652 cases, which includes 269 deaths.

The United States recorded 1,738 deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The new deaths bring the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the US to 46,583 since the outbreak began there, by far the highest figures recorded by any country caught in the global pandemic.

Globally, more than 2.6 million have been affected from the outbreak, while it has claimed the lives of over 1.8 lakh people.

4:29 pm: 4,257 COVID-19 patients, which is 19.89 per cent, cured so far: Health Ministry

3:25 pm: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has directed authorities to create a dedicated COVID19 facility for Delhi Police personnel. LG has also directed setting up an exclusive testing center for Delhi police personnel working amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

3:17 pm: SpiceJet’s air ambulance will fly Asian Games Boxing Gold Medallist Dingko Singh from Imphal to Delhi to help him resume his treatment for liver cancer. The air ambulance service will be provided free of charge to the Padma awardee: SpiceJet

2:51 pm: State govt has decided to provide insurance of Rs 10 lakh each to all journalists who are reporting during Coronavirus pandemic: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar

2:40 pm: 49 new cases of COVID19 found in Rajasthan today, taking total number of cases to 1937. Out of the total cases, 27 patients have died, 407 recovered & 134 patients have been discharged from hospitals: Rajasthan Health Department

2:28 pm: 80 more people have tested positive for COVID19 in Andhra Pradesh, taking the total number of cases to 893. Out of the total cases, 141 patients have recovered & 27 others succumbed to the infection: Andhra Pradesh Health Department

1:58 pm: Number of  COVID19 cases rises to 270 in Haryana including 24 linked to foreign nationals. 162 patients have been cured, 105 are undergoing treatment whereas three people have lost their lives due to the infection: Haryana Health Department

1:15 pm: Tamil Nadu: State Minister for cooperation, Sellur K Raju and Madurai District Collector Dr TG Vinay felicitated sanitation workers in Madurai today, who are carrying out their duties amid CoronavirusLockdown. The workers were also given groceries and cleaning supplies.

12:55 pm: Punjab: Around 250 people of the United Kingdom who were stranded in India amid CoronavirusLockdown, left for their country from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar on a special British Airways flight.

12:45 pm: Puducherry: COVID19 test of CM V Narayansamy, Assembly Speaker VP Sivakolundu, Ministers, MP and MLAs was done at the legislative assembly today.

12:28 pm: More than 33 crore poor people received financial assistance of Rs 31,235 crore under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package. Rs 10,025 crore disbursed to 20.05 crore to Women Jan Dhan account holders: Ministry of Finance

8:59 am: President Ram Nath Kovind has approved to promulgate The Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 which provides stricter punishments for attacks against health workers.

8:30 am: Passes of people being checked by Police at Delhi-Noida border, amid   CoronavirusLockdown. Delhi-Gautam Budh Nagar/Noida border has been completely closed, with certain exceptions, by Gautam Budh Nagar administration as a preventive measure against  OVID19.

8:12 am: Republic TV editor in chief Arnab Goswami and wife were attacked early this morning in Mumbai by 2 unknown persons while they were driving home from their studios. A police complaint has been registered, details awaited. Both Arnab and Samia Goswami were unhurt in the attack.
